Dr Martin Crots has been providing screening, diagnostic and curative colonoscopies for 15 years. He offers his patients a comfortable space and a reliable team who care for each of his patients on an individual basis. His Endoscopy suite is situated in Mediclinic Cape Town and patients are offered the benefits and comfort of in-hospital care but without the need of a formal admission.
Dr Martin Crots has been providing screening, diagnostic and curative gastroscopies for 15 years. He has specialist skills in dealing with Gastro-esophageal reflux disease, Hiatus hernias, Peptic Ulcer disease, Gastric cancer. He also offers endoscopic stent procedures, oesophageal ablations and banding and specialist treatment of pre-cancerous conditions such as Barretts oesophagus. He offers his patients a comfortable space and a reliable team who care for each of his patients on an individual basis. His Endoscopy suite is situated in Mediclinic Cape Town and patients are offered the benefits and comfort of in-hospital care but without the need of a formal admission.
Dr Martin Crots spends time to discuss post endoscopic findings in person with each of his patients. Timely appointments (within 1 week) are made so that treatment plans are discussed after all results are available. With the patient's consent, formal reports are sent to your referring doctor or general practitioner. We understand how important feedback is for the continuity of your treatment plan.

CONSULTATION
Patients are welcomed to book their own appointments for screening advice. Depending on your family history and personalised risk assessment, Dr Crots decides the best screening plan for you.

Dr Crots qualified as a surgical gastroenterologist in 2012. He is an established surgeon with a wide offering of specialist surgical procedures.

Martin obtained his MBChB from University of the Free State in 2002, cum laude for surgery and was awared the prestigious Cornelius Wessels medal as the best student in surgery.
After completing his internship and community service in Kimberley Hospital under the tutorship of the excellent Professor Ettienne Theron, he started specialising in in surgery and obtained his MMed Surgery degree in 2009.
He started working as a specialist consultant at Universitas Hospital at the the University of the Free State completing his sub-speciality in Gastroenterology in 2011. Done under the mentorship of Dr Stephen Grobler (colo-rectal and proctology), Professor Renald Barry and Dr Casper Troskie (upper gastroenterology and hepato-biliary). He moved down to Cape Town and started a private practice at Mediclinic Cape Town at the start of 2013.
He has since grown a successful practice and opened a dedicated endoscopy suite in his rooms in 2016. He is married, has 3 children, 2 dogs and lives in Tamboerskloof in Cape Town.
His hobbies are reading, travel and collecting plots and characters for his future novel.
His personal interests in surgery include:
Endoscopy (ERCP and endoscopic interventions), pelvic floor surgery and advanced laparo-scopic surgery (colo-rectal).
Martin is passionate about his patients and guarantees an open and available relationship with them. Pre and post operative care are a priority focussing on comfort and early recovery.

Bronwyn has more than a decade of experience in specialist surgical care. She is a qualified theatre Sister and works with Dr Crots to ensure world class treatment.

Dr Sonia Hough
General Practitioner, Surgical Assistant
Dr Hough has 13 years of experience as a surgical assistant. Her expertise lies with abdominal and pelvic laparoscopic surgeries. She also works with Dr Crots as part of the pre and post surgical team to optimise patient outcomes.

Lynette van Rooyen
Accounts and Submissions
Lynette has been working alongside Dr Crots since the start of the practice in 2012. She is in charge of obtaining authorisations and liaison with the patient's medical aid and insurance.
